Additional Notes

Here is a link to the lesson Ken referred to regarding the fallen angels: The Angels Did What?

Spiritual principles:

  • It is a demonic, corrupted culture in which we live, characterized by satanic, sexual corruption.
  • God is jealous for His image, and Satan tries to destroy it any way we can - through the breakdown of marriage and through violence among people.
  • As believers in Jesus Christ, we can be saved in the ark of faith and godliness that His Spirit enables us to build.

Comments

Thank you, Ken, for pointing out the parallel to today's culture of fascination with paranormal relations. It reminded me of watching one of the popular Twilight movies to see what all the hubbub was about a few years ago. There was a scene where the lead vampire shows his human love interest what he looks like in sunlight. He turned out to be shining bright like a body made completely of diamonds, and she was stunned, noting how beautiful he was. I was immediately reminded at the time of Paul's statement:

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (ESV)

It would be hard to believe our culture could celebrate such things if it weren't for God's Word warning us it has happened before.
